Choose the right flight product

Aéroclub d’Aubigny-sur-Nère distinguishes several experiences. A vol de découverte, also described in French as a baptême de l’air, carries passengers with an authorised pilot. A vol d’initiation is a different product involving an instructor and an introduction to piloting. Do not reserve one while expecting the other.

Information required when booking

Contact the club with several possible dates and the number of passengers. It must bring together a qualified pilot, an available aircraft and suitable weather. Give each person’s weight accurately when requested: mass and balance are safety data, not a sales formality. Ask what baggage, if any, can be carried.

For a minor, establish the accompanying-adult or permission requirement. Mention reduced mobility, a back condition, pregnancy, motion sensitivity or anything else that may affect boarding or flight. Only the pilot and club can assess suitability. Never select an aircraft or seat from an old photograph.

At the aerodrome

The club is at La Théau aerodrome on Route de Ménétréol, outside the historic centre. Save the destination and arrive with a margin. Remain in the indicated reception or parking area. A runway, taxiway or aircraft movement area is never a pedestrian shortcut.

Wear comfortable layers and closed shoes. Sunglasses may help, but every loose object must be secured. Ask before using a phone or camera because the pilot may require it to be put away during particular phases. Listen to the briefing on doors, seat belts and what to do if you feel unwell.

Weather controls the plan

Visibility, cloud base, wind, turbulence, heat and runway condition can change the departure time, route, passenger load or the decision to fly at all. A patch of blue sky over Aubigny says little about the whole operating area. The pilot makes the decision; accepting postponement is part of booking light aviation responsibly.
