Use the village as a starting point

Ménétréol-sur-Sauldre is a small commune surrounded by forest, ponds and waterways. Saint-Martin church and the village streets offer a straightforward introduction before any nature walk. The peatland is not an ordinary park

Tourbière des Landes is a protected acidic wetland known for sphagnum moss, heath and specially adapted plants. The Centre-Val de Loire nature conservancy is the right source for its status, conservation needs and visiting arrangements. A sensitive natural area may close a section, restrict people to managed access or favour guided outings.

Remain on indicated routes, pick nothing and avoid waterlogged edges. Peat soils are fragile and can be deceptive underfoot. If no current access arrangement is published, choose a marked walk through the surrounding landscape instead of searching for an informal entrance.

Link Ménétréol with Ennordres

The tourist office describes a circuit between Ménétréol and Ennordres, crossing the Petite Sauldre landscape. It combines peatland and heath, Ménétréol’s church, then Arrachis pond and Ennordres heritage. Use the latest route file and check hunting information, ground conditions and any diversions before departure.
